Wow, long time.
Sorry it's been so long. I apologize. I have been really busy. I'm working two jobs and I have Porter to take care of, so things get pretty hectic.
I bought myself a new iPod today. My old one broke... boo. I got paid yesterday and I was at Walmart and I just had to get a new one. It's the 4gb one, so I can hold quite a bit of stuff on it.
I have been becoming quite obsessive lately. LOL. Josh...Groban. It's all in the name. Aahh... *melt* Seth doesn't care just cuz it's not like anything will happen. It's okay. His voice is so calming and he's hilarious... and gorgeous. I'm sorry if I tend to talk a lot on this subject. He's just made my life happier lately and I have made new friends on the message boards and LJ communites.
Well, Vanessa got her ring. It is soooo pretty. Her new official date is Feb. 15. They are getting married in Kevin's church. Pamela is just freaking out because she doesn't want to pay for the wedding. She wants Vanessa to pay for it all. I just wish I had some way to help out.
Wow! I didn't realize it was so late already!
And so I leave you with my favorite song: (and so appropriate for the season)
Thankful
David Foster/Carol Bayer Sager/Richard Page
Somedays we forget
To look around us
Somedays we can’t see
The joy that surrounds us
So caught up inside ourselves
We take when we should give.
So for tonight we pray for
What we know can be.
And on this day we hope for
What we still can’t see.
It’s up to us to be the change
And even though we all can still do more
There’s so much to be thankful for.
Look beyond ourselves
There’s so much sorrow
It’s way too late to say
I’ll cry tomorrow
Each of us must find our truth
It’s so long overdue
So for tonight we pray for
What we know can be
And every day we hope for
What we still can’t see
It’s up to us to be the change
And even though we all can still do more
There’s so much to be thankful for.
Even with our differences
There is a place we’re all connected
Each of us can find each other’s light
So for tonight we pray for
What we know can be
And on this day we hope for
What we still can’t see
It’s up to us to be the change
And even though this world needs so much more
There’s so much to be thankful for.

Call me crazy...
So yesterday I got paid. It wasn't a whole lot cuz I missed a week and I was sick, so I got about 2 weeks worth of pay for the last month. But anyways, I needed some new clothes for work. So I went to the mall and bought 2 shirts and a pair of khaki's cuz Seth accidentally got marker on my other pair. Then I bought some earrings. After that, I went to Target and picked up the CD/DVD combo Josh Groban Christmas album. And I am proud to admit that I am listening to it right now and of course it is breathtakingly beautiful. And his "Awake" concert CD/DVD that he taped in SLC is coming out early 2008. So excited since I was there!!!
Vanessa's wedding stuff is going slow. Where in the heck am I going to find a silver dress?
We went up to SLC today to celebrate Halloween with my mom and one of my friends since we aren't going to make it up there on Wednesday. That was fun. My mom took us to lunch and we put Porter in his costume. He was a cowboy. So cute. We visited a while and then went down to see Libby Ty and Cam. Cameron was dressed up as a turtle. So cute!! Tyler was a Victorian vampire and Libby was a vampire too, but she was dressed like a skank. So... They asked me what I was and I said, "I'm the crippled preppy girl" and they looked at me weird. But I was actually dressed preppy anyways. I actually took the time to put on makeup and do my hair. And it was an answer off the top of my head. And since I am in a cast I thought it would be funny. I thought it was at least.
Seth and I went and saw "We own the night" last night. Not very good. I would not recommend it. We were going to see "The heartbreak Kid" but we missed it. There was a lot of blood and drugs and stuff. At one point a dude's head gets blown off with a shotgun and his brains go flying everywhere. That was kinda cool cuz the dude was a jerk. But it was slow and seemed to go on forever.
It's been really nice weather. It was in the 60s for most of last week. And this is the first Saturday that it's been nice in about 6 weeks. Haha.
I made cookies and pumpkin chocolate chip bread last night to take up to my mom today and we got all the way up there and I realized that I had left the stuff on our kitchen table. I felt really bad, but oh well. They were good. Porter ate the bread very enthusiastically. And the cookies had homemade frosting on them. Yum!!
I'm listening to a song in French. I think it is such a beautiful language. I wish that they offered it in high school and that I continued taking it while I was at UVSC. I learned a little when I was really little cuz my uncle Brian lived in Belgium, my uncle Michael lived in Paris and my aunt Pamela has lived in Quebec and Paris so they are all fluent. It gets annoying at Christmas though when we are all together cuz they start singing songs in French and no one else can sing with them cuz we don't know how. They sing a whole bunch of them too. Oh well. That's not my problem.
Wow, it's late. I didn't even realize it was after midnight. Huh... I'm pretty tired, but not enough to actually go to sleep. My foot hurts too much and then I can't sleep. But Excederine keeps me up and Asprin makes me shaky and gives me a tummy ache. So I have to take Nyquil and I hate doing that. Maybe I'll go read...

Books!!
I've also been watching movies. I saw Music and Lyrics for the first time yesterday. It's actually pretty good.
I've been working too. I feel bad because I'm not much help these days. I kinda just sit there and grade papers or color or something. But, hey, I'm getting paid $8.50 an hour to sit on my butt. LOL.
It been really cold and rainy these past few days. It really sucks. I hate the rain. It's better than snow, but I don't like the cold or the wet.
Porter just woke up from his nap, so this is all for now.

Can't sleep
Well, since I can't sleep I might as well finish where I left off.
Okay, next busy thing- surgery. I got ankle surgery on my right ankle on the 5th of October. It's not all that painful it just sucks to be in a cast 24/7. I can't do hardly anything and I have to have help bathing myself. Seth was nice and washed some of the dishes this morning though.
Then my sister moved in briefly with us. There was a big controversy going on with us and her parents and it just sucked really bad. I don't even want to go into it. She was a big help around the house. She took care of Porter which was probably the most helpful of everything. She did laundry and dishes and everything.
Then we went hunting yesterday. Me, Seth, Porter, Vanessa, and Kevin. Kevin is Vanessa's fiancee. Amazing I know. Anyways, Kevin drove my car up to the summit while me, Seth and Porter were in the truck. My car is not registered, so thank goodness we didn't get pulled over. So once we got to the summit, Kevin and Vanessa got into the back of the truck for the ride up to camp. Poor Porter got sick and puked all over his seat and his shirts, so we had to pull over to clean him up. He was standing out in the cold until we could get his coat on him and his hat. He was screaming. :( When we got up to camp, I took off my shirt and put it on Porter. He needed it more than I did. We rolled up the sleeves and tucked it into his 2 pairs of pants and put his coat, hat and gloves back on. Well, the altitude was getting to him too. Mind you we're at over 8,000 feet. So he puked again, but we were able to catch it that time. So we lit a fire in the stove in the tent and he slept on a cot for a couple hours.
Now a funny story about me. So my foot is in a cast and I had a walking shoe thingy on over it, but my toes were still exposed and it was FREEZING up there. So I put some foot warmers over my toes and then put my foot in an empty budweiser box for insulation. So I'm sitting by the fire ring watching the guys chop wood and stuff. Kevin was like "Cover your face" when Seth put the gasoline on the wood. Well, we didn't realize that the wind was going towards me and that the flame was going to be huge. So Seth throws in the match and I was screaming cuz I thought that I caught on fire. I have never been so scared in my life. I was scrambling to get out of my chair and Kevin and Seth were scrambling to get me. Needless to say, I landed right on my bad ankle when I jumped out. After the shock wore down and I was laughing, I desperately needed my Percocet. I went into the tent and took a little nap once the meds kicked in. When I woke up I heard that some other people had come back from the hunt. Bert and his son Ryan. Friends of the family. I come out with this box on my foot and they gave me really weird looks. And when I told them that it was intentional and that my foot wasn't stuck, boy did I get made fun of. LOL. It really was funny though. Three elk were shot. Uncle V got one, Donovan and Riley. It was the first time Don's shot one, so that was cool. Uncle V is commonly known as the Troll in the family. That happened 2 years ago when Vanessa thought he was a troll. Anyways, on our way down the mountain, Seth spotted a grouse and quickly pulled out his shotgun. He got 2 of them. Mmmm... prairie chickens. Yummy. Here's a link to the hunting day: http://picasaweb.google.com/tinlizzie85/Hunting2007
And now on top of everything, I am helping my sister plan a wedding for January 18. Busy, busy.
Oh yeah, my brothers turned 9 on the 1st. We had a party at my grandma's house. Ben is on the right and Joe is on the left. He's the one that looks posessed. Ben looks normal.
Also my cousin Felicia had her baby on the 8th. His name is Westlee Merlin Bird. And I found out today that my cousin Hashim is a new daddy. His name is Bryce Gordan O'Grady. 2 new cousins in one week. How awesome is that?! I can't wait to meet them both!!
And Porter can say ball now. And he can find my nose and unfortunatly he says no. Well, actually he just shakes his head no. And he has two little teeth on top. He looks like a beaver.

Wow, sorry.
OMG! It's been a long time. I apologize. Did I spell that right? Anyways, I've been fairly busy.
First there was my trip to Iowa.
That was a lot of fun. I just wish I could have been there longer. So I left SLC and had a layover in Phoenix. Yeah, not much of one. I land in Phoenix and had to go to the other end of the terminal for my connecting flight. Well, since I was late getting in, they had already announced that there was a gate change. But I missed it. So I get all the way down there just to find out that the gate was back where I had just come from. So I had 10 minutes to get back there. I got to the gate right as they were shutting the doors. They had to run me down the jetway and stop the plane for me. Talk about embarrassing. LOL. I finally get to DSM and man was it humid!! It was freezing in SLC. Might I add, that in the SLC airport, going through security was a joke. They yelled at me for forgetting to take off my belt. And then for not knowing where to put it cuz they didn't tell me. Anyways, so I land in DSM and go to the rental car place to get my car. NICE!!! 2007 Pontiac G6. The only problem- it was white. Boy that thing purred. So I pull out my map cuz I forgot where I was going. It had been 4 years afterall. I went and saw my old house and then went and had lunch with my friend Chelsey. Then I went to Mandi's house. We talked for a while about her wedding and stuff and I visited with her parents. Then I surprised my friend Cody at his house. We went for a walk around the block and chatted about his mission and about why he wasn't married yet. :) He had a lot of homework to do, so I didn't stay long. Then I called up my friend Matt and we went and got some ice cream, after attempting to find his house many times. He gave me really bad directions. Then I headed up to Ames.
The next day Johanna and I went to Target. Fun fun. She needed to get a wedding gift for Mandi. And we were bored. Then we did a little scrapbooking and went to dinner at Perkins.
Friday was the wedding down in Winterset. That was alright. We checked out some of the covered bridges and also went to the John Wayne museum. I was able to see the Yourstones, however Scott and Katie are out here in Utah going to school. The reception was in a state park. It reminded me of being home in the canyons. We ended up having to ford a river to get to the lodge. I can now officially say I have driven through a river. LOL. It was a very small get together. Pretty though.
After the wedding, Johanna and I hit the Merle Hay Mall. Then we met up with her sister Gabe at Starbucks. Then the 3 of us went bowling. That was fun. I had a really bad night. We'll just leave it at that. :) We all went back to Gabe's and had pizza before Jo and I went back to Ames.
I had to go back the next day-Sunday. I was so sad to give up my car. So once again I'm at the DSM airport and I get stopped at security. This time I get pulled aside and told to sit in a chair in a seperate area. This security lady comes over with the little wand thingy and starts asking me questions about me being a terrorist. Then she does the body search. My bra straps made the thingy go off and so she had to frisk me. Then the things on my pants went off. Again, frisking. Then she goes over my back pockets and it beeped because I had big buttons. Once again, I felt violated and embarrassed. I had to turn my waistband out and take off my socks. Yeah, humiliating. So then I arrive in Phoenix. I walked to the other end of the terminal to get to my gate and once again, it was at the final boarding call. Oh yeah, on the way there I was in the emergency exit row and there was a whole bunch of turbulence and it freaked me out. Also before we took off, the captain got on the thing saying there was engine trouble. The starter was broken and therefore they had to wait for the engineer dude to come and start the plane. But until then there was no AC. So I land in SLC and it's pouring rain. And cold. And I didn't have a sweater. All in all, it was a good weekend.
I would tell you about my hunting trip this weekend, but I'm tired, so that's for next time.
Here's the link to my pics of the wedding and my trip, if you would like to check them out.

13 Days and counting
The countdown starts for my trip to Iowa. 13 days. I was originally going to drive out with Seth and Porter, but I found a cheap plane ticket so I'm going by myself. Seth didn't really want to go in the first place and I would have a break from Porter for 4 days. So that works out.

I am officially employed!!!
Well, I started my job today at the American Leadership Academy. It's a charter school. I'm a teacher assistant in the 1st and 6th grades. I'm only working 15 hours a week, but it's something. I worked here 2 years ago when the school opened, but the principal was horrible and there was one lady who thought that she ruled the school. There is a new principal now and he is really cool. I'm not scared of him. :)
My cousin Rachel got married on Thursday. The reception was so pretty. And she looked gorgeous!!!
I've also been continuing my allergy shots treatment. Yay... 2 shots twice a week until December, then 2 shots every other week until spring and then 2 shots once a week until fall. Then is continues like that for 3-4 years.
I saw "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" with my sister this last weekend. So good. I also watched "High School Musical 2." Yes, I know, kinda cheesy. :)
Also 7 days until JOSH GROBAN!!!!!

Shots
K- so I started my allergy shots yesterday. I was under the impression that it was just going to be one shot 2 times a week. Well, since I am allergic to EVERYTHING outside, I have to have 2 shots 2 times a week. Not fun. They don't really hurt, but they swell up and itch like a mosquito bite. Maybe I should put some windex on it... Remember the movie "My Big Fat Greek Wedding?" LOL. I go in again on Thursday. Fun fun.
Went and saw "I now Pronounce you Chuck and Larry." FUNNY!!! I laughed so hard! Go see it!!

Busy busy busy!!!
Whew, we've had a busy weekend. Seth decided to buy a truck since he's been begging and begging for one and we've finally been able to afford it. So, he's at the DMV getting the temp tags and stuff for it and when he's backing out he runs into some girls car. She was speeding through the parking lot and wanted the spot by him and didn't look to see that he was backing out. He hadn't even gone 3 feet. And now the family is trying to blame it on him. The girl was 17 and had only had her license for a couple months. LOL.
Then we took my car in to get the transmission fixed. Finally. So now I have no way of getting around cuz Seth won't let me drive the truck because "it's too big and it's touchy."
That night, (Friday) we took Rupert out to the lake so that he could play in the water. Porter loved it. Rupert was chasing birds all around and playing in the water. Porter sat in the water and splashed around. He found rocks and was throwing them in and just having so much fun. He got really mad when we had to go home.
Saturday Seth had a work fishing trip up at Payson Lakes. We left nice and early, but we still didn't get there until about 9:30 am. We find a good spot to chill and Porter decided to play in the water. So we let him splash around. Then he starts screaming and wouldn't stop. We didn't even have a chance to put our poles in the water before we left. So we drove the rest of the way around the Nebo loop and by the time we got to Nephi it was noon and Porter finally fell asleep. When we got home Porter ran through the sprinklers for the first time. So cute!! We bought Rupert a swimming pool from Walmart since it was soooo incredibly hot. Then we had a bbq up in Sandy with the company that helped up with our loan. I called my cousin Rachel cuz they wanted to hang out. I gave her and Lee directions to the park and assumed that they could get there cuz Lee's from Sandy. Well, I get this call saying that they were up Big Cottonwood canyon and they couldn't find the park. So I laughed a bit and gave them directions again. Rachel called and said that Lee was getting really frustrated that he couldn't find it so they were just gonna go home. I laughed and wondered how someone could get confused with North and South Sandy and the canyon... And he said he was good with directions... LOL. So we left and went to Seth's parent's house in Lehi and stayed for a while.
Yesterday was just a blah day. We decided to get a bookcase for the living room so that Porter's books weren't everywhere. That went well... Porter destroyed everything. So we had to wait until he was asleep to finish putting it together and putting stuff on it. It looks really good now.
I was able to see Vanessa for a few minutes on Saturday before the bbq. She was at my grandparents house- up the street- and needed some Claritin cuz the Benadryl allergy medicine was making her sleepy. She looked like crap. She wasn't able to go anywhere or talk to anybody except the family. She said that she would be home until Monday, so I called her this morning and turns out that Pamela decided that she had to go home early. But she will be home tomorrow and Wednesday, so maybe I'll have a chance to see her then and actually be able to talk to her.
So that's what's been going on. I'm frantically trying to get everything ready for Rachel's bridal shower on Saturday and it doesn't help that she never answers her phone. Hopefully I can get in touch with her by Friday so that we can decide what food she wants and games etc.

Do I really need to come up with a title??
So, my cousin is getting married and I am throwing her a bridal shower. It was originally going to be just her friends, but her mom doesn't have time to do one so we just decided to combine and do it together at my house. My house isn't very big, but it has a big yard so we figured we would just do it outside. Well, I called up my mom to double check if she was coming and when I told her about the plan to combine both showers into one she totally flipped out because there's not enough shade. Who cares? We have a big tree in our side yard, but there isn't one in the back or front. So she's totally freaking out cuz no one is going to want to sit in the sun. Yeah, but there's nothing else we can do. My house can't hold 40 people. We had a hard enough time with 10. And not everyone is going to be able to fit in the side yard under the tree. So in order to have my mom stop calling everybody and telling them not to come, I have to come up with a way to make a tent in my back yard for everybody to have shade. WTF!!
On a happy note... Porter says "hi" now. It is so cute. He just started it today. And he decided that he's sick of eating baby food. He wants to big boy stuff. But since he has no teeth it makes it kinda difficult. He was able to eat a piece of bread, a fruit cup and a nutrigrain bar though. He is such a cutie!!
My ankle has been really sore lately. And my other foot has been hurting too. I have an appointment in a couple weeks with my podiatrist for a check up since I last sprained my ankle. I'll talk to him and see what exactly is wrong with both of my ankles. I shouldn't be hurting in the one that was fixed... Oh well. I'm such a klutz anyways that something was bound to happen sooner or later. LOL.
Father's Day was pretty good. I got Seth some funny shirts and I got him an auto reset target system for his 22 cal. That was a lot of fun. We went up the canyon and shot at it a few rounds. Yeah, I suck. Then we went up to his parents house and had dinner. Seth had to get to bed so that he could go to work so we left early. I decided to go to my grandpa's cuz I wanted to see Vanessa. That was a disaster. Pamela and Tim totally over reacted to something that Vanessa did and then they took it out on me cuz I was the first person they saw when they came upstairs. After everything smoothed out there my little brother Joe decided it would be funny to tackle Porter. I told him to do it in the living room and not by the corner wall cuz I didn't want Porter to hit his head. Well, let's just say that Porter has a huge goose-egg on his forehead because someone didn't listen to their sister. I felt so bad for Porter. I was mad at Joe cuz he just said "I didn't do it!" and ran downstairs. Pamela didn't even punish him!! If Vanessa had done it she would have gotten into trouble. But that's a whole other story. So I had to run home- down the street- and get Porter's tylenol. His poor little head. The swelling has gone down, but he has a ginormous bruise on the right side of his forehead. :(
We got Porter his own little chair. He loves it. He lounges out while he's watching tv and totally gets comfy. Seth decided to take a pic of both me and Porter lounging this morning. He said it was cute cuz we were both in the same position and we have the mommy chair and the baby chair. :)

Any-who, we went to lunch on Sunday at the Olive Garden. Funny thing- our waitress was one of my old roomies when I lived at King Henry. BTW- don't live there. Horrible. So, I totally didn't recognize her since it's been 3 years. It wasn't until I saw her name tag that it finally registered who she was. We were able to catch up for about 5 minutes and then it started getting crowded. Totally random and totally made my day so much better. Then we went to Sportsman's Warehouse cuz Seth wanted to look for something- I don't even know what it was. We ended up getting Porter a baby size camp chair and I got a shirt that says- It's all about the rack. Size does matter. It has a picture of deer antlers behind it. Haha. It's a hunter thing. :)
I have this horrible spider bite on my foot and it itches like crazy!

I love my Vanessa!!
I got to see my sister yesterday. She is so funny!! We went and got snowcones. Mmmm...
It's so hard for me not to see her as much as I would like. She should be able to come home in a couple of months if she continues to do well. She isn't doing summer school like we thought she would.
Turns out if she does alright her first semester next year, and she's at home, she might be able to graduate early. She only has to take 3 classes. Yay!! She also might come live with me for a while until she finds a job and stuff.
I can't believe that my sister is 17 already and going to graduate!! Wow!

Funny quotes-friends from UHS
A highlight from high school with my friends is the infamous quote book. We put together 3 books of quotes that are from friends, fellow students, family members, and so on that we heard in the halls or on tv. Very random things. This is the first of 3 posts of quotes. These are my personal favorites from my close friends at Urbandale. Enjoy! (There are no last names. You know who you are. :) )
Jessica- Bell, bell, bell, bell, bell. Hahaha! That's bell 5 times!
Johanna- The whole purpose of my life is to ruin yours.
Johanna- Whoa! These weights are heavy.
Jessica- I don't say stupid quotes. I say dumb quotes.
Jessica- I think I hear trains with mice on it.

Johanna- I am the toilet fairy!
Gabe- Get the axe and kill him some more times. Maybe he'll actually die this time.
Jessica- My head hurts. So stop thinking. Who said that?
Gabe- My plants need support.
Grace- So get a bra for it.
Gabe- She's already dead and gone to college
Gabe- That just tickled my beans.
Gabe- I used to hang with the crowd, but the crowd can't help me now.
Me- I get to take Jeff's butt prints to Utah!

Mother's Day
So, to all you Mother's and wives out there- Happy Mother's Day!
Today was just perfect- weather, mood, company... We started out by going up to Lehi to visit with Seth's parents. It's about a 20 minute drive so we had on the AC and the tunes and were totally rockin out-- to country music. LOL. We are the first to arrive. We open the door and are greeted by Lorna's new little chiuaua. (I have no idea how this is spelled.) I hate little yappy dogs so it was all I could do to not kill it. Then the nephews show up. Yay... At least it's good company for Porter. He loves playing with them.
Well, since Julie and Pete are on their missions, we had a chance to talk briefly to them. Julie in Florida and Pete in Fogo- Cape Verde Islands. I think it's kinda funny that we all talked to Julie for so long. She comes home in 3 days anyway. The first thing that Seth asks Pete is- "So, are there any nude beaches there?" Pete chuckled in amusement while Seth answered- "Any beach becomes a nude beach when I get there." It was really funny, but totally not appropriate conversation for a missionary. Pete is so sweet and innocent though. It probably just bounced right off of him. :)
We had to leave early to get to my grandparents house. Yeah, we totally missed a wonderful dinner-pot roast. Yummy! I headed to Wal-mart to grab a bag of chips for the dinner at the grandparents and for a last minute card and gift. That was an okay time, I guess. I went there by myself since Seth had to get to sleep so that he could go to work later. (He works graves- 11pm-730am) Everyone was playing with Porter and Porter was just having the time of his life. I was just so glad that they were wearing him out. Maybe I'll get to sleep in later tomorrow... Yeah, that's a dream that I wish would come true. He woke up at 930 this morning but that was because he didn't go to sleep until midnight and then he woke up at 3 screaming because he's teething and he didn't get back to sleep until 4. Good times.
All in all, it was a good day. Didn't get anything done, but had fun lounging around. :)
