So yesterday I got paid. It wasn't a whole lot cuz I missed a week and I was sick, so I got about 2 weeks worth of pay for the last month. But anyways, I needed some new clothes for work. So I went to the mall and bought 2 shirts and a pair of khaki's cuz Seth accidentally got marker on my other pair. Then I bought some earrings. After that, I went to Target and picked up the CD/DVD combo Josh Groban Christmas album. And I am proud to admit that I am listening to it right now and of course it is breathtakingly beautiful. And his "Awake" concert CD/DVD that he taped in SLC is coming out early 2008. So excited since I was there!!!
Vanessa's wedding stuff is going slow. Where in the heck am I going to find a silver dress?
We went up to SLC today to celebrate Halloween with my mom and one of my friends since we aren't going to make it up there on Wednesday. That was fun. My mom took us to lunch and we put Porter in his costume. He was a cowboy. So cute. We visited a while and then went down to see Libby Ty and Cam. Cameron was dressed up as a turtle. So cute!! Tyler was a Victorian vampire and Libby was a vampire too, but she was dressed like a skank. So... They asked me what I was and I said, "I'm the crippled preppy girl" and they looked at me weird. But I was actually dressed preppy anyways. I actually took the time to put on makeup and do my hair. And it was an answer off the top of my head. And since I am in a cast I thought it would be funny. I thought it was at least.
Seth and I went and saw "We own the night" last night. Not very good. I would not recommend it. We were going to see "The heartbreak Kid" but we missed it. There was a lot of blood and drugs and stuff. At one point a dude's head gets blown off with a shotgun and his brains go flying everywhere. That was kinda cool cuz the dude was a jerk. But it was slow and seemed to go on forever.
It's been really nice weather. It was in the 60s for most of last week. And this is the first Saturday that it's been nice in about 6 weeks. Haha.
I made cookies and pumpkin chocolate chip bread last night to take up to my mom today and we got all the way up there and I realized that I had left the stuff on our kitchen table. I felt really bad, but oh well. They were good. Porter ate the bread very enthusiastically. And the cookies had homemade frosting on them. Yum!!
I'm listening to a song in French. I think it is such a beautiful language. I wish that they offered it in high school and that I continued taking it while I was at UVSC. I learned a little when I was really little cuz my uncle Brian lived in Belgium, my uncle Michael lived in Paris and my aunt Pamela has lived in Quebec and Paris so they are all fluent. It gets annoying at Christmas though when we are all together cuz they start singing songs in French and no one else can sing with them cuz we don't know how. They sing a whole bunch of them too. Oh well. That's not my problem.
Wow, it's late. I didn't even realize it was after midnight. Huh... I'm pretty tired, but not enough to actually go to sleep. My foot hurts too much and then I can't sleep. But Excederine keeps me up and Asprin makes me shaky and gives me a tummy ache. So I have to take Nyquil and I hate doing that. Maybe I'll go read...

Books!!
I've also been watching movies. I saw Music and Lyrics for the first time yesterday. It's actually pretty good.
I've been working too. I feel bad because I'm not much help these days. I kinda just sit there and grade papers or color or something. But, hey, I'm getting paid $8.50 an hour to sit on my butt. LOL.
It been really cold and rainy these past few days. It really sucks. I hate the rain. It's better than snow, but I don't like the cold or the wet.
Porter just woke up from his nap, so this is all for now.

Can't sleep
Well, since I can't sleep I might as well finish where I left off.
Okay, next busy thing- surgery. I got ankle surgery on my right ankle on the 5th of October. It's not all that painful it just sucks to be in a cast 24/7. I can't do hardly anything and I have to have help bathing myself. Seth was nice and washed some of the dishes this morning though.
Then my sister moved in briefly with us. There was a big controversy going on with us and her parents and it just sucked really bad. I don't even want to go into it. She was a big help around the house. She took care of Porter which was probably the most helpful of everything. She did laundry and dishes and everything.
Then we went hunting yesterday. Me, Seth, Porter, Vanessa, and Kevin. Kevin is Vanessa's fiancee. Amazing I know. Anyways, Kevin drove my car up to the summit while me, Seth and Porter were in the truck. My car is not registered, so thank goodness we didn't get pulled over. So once we got to the summit, Kevin and Vanessa got into the back of the truck for the ride up to camp. Poor Porter got sick and puked all over his seat and his shirts, so we had to pull over to clean him up. He was standing out in the cold until we could get his coat on him and his hat. He was screaming. :( When we got up to camp, I took off my shirt and put it on Porter. He needed it more than I did. We rolled up the sleeves and tucked it into his 2 pairs of pants and put his coat, hat and gloves back on. Well, the altitude was getting to him too. Mind you we're at over 8,000 feet. So he puked again, but we were able to catch it that time. So we lit a fire in the stove in the tent and he slept on a cot for a couple hours.
Now a funny story about me. So my foot is in a cast and I had a walking shoe thingy on over it, but my toes were still exposed and it was FREEZING up there. So I put some foot warmers over my toes and then put my foot in an empty budweiser box for insulation. So I'm sitting by the fire ring watching the guys chop wood and stuff. Kevin was like "Cover your face" when Seth put the gasoline on the wood. Well, we didn't realize that the wind was going towards me and that the flame was going to be huge. So Seth throws in the match and I was screaming cuz I thought that I caught on fire. I have never been so scared in my life. I was scrambling to get out of my chair and Kevin and Seth were scrambling to get me. Needless to say, I landed right on my bad ankle when I jumped out. After the shock wore down and I was laughing, I desperately needed my Percocet. I went into the tent and took a little nap once the meds kicked in. When I woke up I heard that some other people had come back from the hunt. Bert and his son Ryan. Friends of the family. I come out with this box on my foot and they gave me really weird looks. And when I told them that it was intentional and that my foot wasn't stuck, boy did I get made fun of. LOL. It really was funny though. Three elk were shot. Uncle V got one, Donovan and Riley. It was the first time Don's shot one, so that was cool. Uncle V is commonly known as the Troll in the family. That happened 2 years ago when Vanessa thought he was a troll. Anyways, on our way down the mountain, Seth spotted a grouse and quickly pulled out his shotgun. He got 2 of them. Mmmm... prairie chickens. Yummy. And now on top of everything, I am helping my sister plan a wedding for January 18. Busy, busy.
Oh yeah, my brothers turned 9 on the 1st. We had a party at my grandma's house. Ben is on the right and Joe is on the left. He's the one that looks posessed. Ben looks normal.
Also my cousin Felicia had her baby on the 8th. His name is Westlee Merlin Bird. And I found out today that my cousin Hashim is a new daddy. His name is Bryce Gordan O'Grady. 2 new cousins in one week. How awesome is that?! I can't wait to meet them both!!
And Porter can say ball now. And he can find my nose and unfortunatly he says no. Well, actually he just shakes his head no. And he has two little teeth on top. He looks like a beaver.

Wow, sorry.
OMG! It's been a long time. I apologize. Did I spell that right? Anyways, I've been fairly busy.
First there was my trip to Iowa.
That was a lot of fun. I just wish I could have been there longer. So I left SLC and had a layover in Phoenix. Yeah, not much of one. I land in Phoenix and had to go to the other end of the terminal for my connecting flight. Well, since I was late getting in, they had already announced that there was a gate change. But I missed it. So I get all the way down there just to find out that the gate was back where I had just come from. So I had 10 minutes to get back there. I got to the gate right as they were shutting the doors. They had to run me down the jetway and stop the plane for me. Talk about embarrassing. LOL. I finally get to DSM and man was it humid!! It was freezing in SLC. Might I add, that in the SLC airport, going through security was a joke. They yelled at me for forgetting to take off my belt. And then for not knowing where to put it cuz they didn't tell me. Anyways, so I land in DSM and go to the rental car place to get my car. NICE!!! 2007 Pontiac G6. The only problem- it was white. Boy that thing purred. So I pull out my map cuz I forgot where I was going. It had been 4 years afterall. I went and saw my old house and then went and had lunch with my friend Chelsey. Then I went to Mandi's house. We talked for a while about her wedding and stuff and I visited with her parents. Then I surprised my friend Cody at his house. We went for a walk around the block and chatted about his mission and about why he wasn't married yet. :) He had a lot of homework to do, so I didn't stay long. Then I called up my friend Matt and we went and got some ice cream, after attempting to find his house many times. He gave me really bad directions. Then I headed up to Ames.
The next day Johanna and I went to Target. Fun fun. She needed to get a wedding gift for Mandi. And we were bored. Then we did a little scrapbooking and went to dinner at Perkins.
Friday was the wedding down in Winterset. That was alright. We checked out some of the covered bridges and also went to the John Wayne museum. I was able to see the Yourstones, however Scott and Katie are out here in Utah going to school. The reception was in a state park. It reminded me of being home in the canyons. We ended up having to ford a river to get to the lodge. I can now officially say I have driven through a river. LOL. It was a very small get together. Pretty though.
After the wedding, Johanna and I hit the Merle Hay Mall. Then we met up with her sister Gabe at Starbucks. Then the 3 of us went bowling. That was fun. I had a really bad night. We'll just leave it at that. :) We all went back to Gabe's and had pizza before Jo and I went back to Ames.
I had to go back the next day-Sunday. I was so sad to give up my car. So once again I'm at the DSM airport and I get stopped at security. This time I get pulled aside and told to sit in a chair in a seperate area. This security lady comes over with the little wand thingy and starts asking me questions about me being a terrorist. Then she does the body search. My bra straps made the thingy go off and so she had to frisk me. Then the things on my pants went off. Again, frisking. Then she goes over my back pockets and it beeped because I had big buttons. Once again, I felt violated and embarrassed. I had to turn my waistband out and take off my socks. Yeah, humiliating. So then I arrive in Phoenix. I walked to the other end of the terminal to get to my gate and once again, it was at the final boarding call. Oh yeah, on the way there I was in the emergency exit row and there was a whole bunch of turbulence and it freaked me out. Also before we took off, the captain got on the thing saying there was engine trouble. The starter was broken and therefore they had to wait for the engineer dude to come and start the plane. But until then there was no AC. So I land in SLC and it's pouring rain. And cold. And I didn't have a sweater. All in all, it was a good weekend.
I would tell you about my hunting trip this weekend, but I'm tired, so that's for next time.
Here's the link to my pics of the wedding and my trip, if you would like to check them out.
